How has participation in Girls on the Run influenced the person you are today?

"My whole childhood I was labeled as a shy kid. In my heart, I wanted to be able to speak up, make friends freely, and have confidence in myself. GOTR was my first push to become who I am today. I fell in love with running and the joy of pushing through challenges. The impact of GOTR has stuck with me through my high school years as well. This June, I will proudly be graduating from Shabazz City High School. I carry these lessons not only in times of exciting change and adventure but also in times of great adversity. Over these formative years of my life, I have embodied the core values of Girls on the Run. I am eternally grateful to GOTR for setting me up for success and giving me the tools to become the person I am today. Thanks to Girls on the Run, the trajectory of my life was enhanced through confidence, responsibility, leadership, advocacy, empathy, and a positive attitude."

Congratulations, Lily, for your all-around wonderful work. We're excited about your bright future that lies ahead!
