Since our first season in 2005, Girls on the Run of South Central Wisconin has empowered thousands of girls using our fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Now, many of the girls from our early years are young women, navigating adulthood with the tools and strategies learned through Girls on the Run.
 
We are pleased to continue empowering former GOTR participants through the Girls on the Run Alumni Scholarship. This award provides an opportunity to recognize, support, and celebrate young women who have previously participated in the Girls on the Run or Girls on Track program, and have demonstrated bringing the Girls on the Run core values to life. Recipients of this award are named "Sara Scholars" in honor of Girls on the Run of South Central Wisconsin's first Executive Director, Sara Pickard. Offering this award and investing in the women of tomorrow were key priorities in her time with Girls on the Run.
 
Girls on the Run is pleased to award a $2,500 scholarship to two past program participants, for use toward their post-secondary education. Two one-time $2,500 scholarships are available.
 
Scholarships will be awarded based on a student's participation in school and community activities, two short essays, and a letter of recommendation. Through these scholarships, we hope the Girls on the Run experience will continue to positively impact our past participants for many years to come.

The completed scholarship application and all supporting materials must be submitted by Friday, March 1, 2024. Scholarship award recipients will be notified in early spring.
