Highlights from our Spring 5K

Youth participant with their running buddy beaming after a rainy run!

“We’re strong, we know it, and this is how we show it - Girls on the Run is SO MUCH FUN!”

The rain may have gotten everything else wet, but it didn’t dampen our spirits on June 1, 2024. We shouted our signature program cheer in celebration of all that was accomplished by our kids, our coaches, and our supporters in another remarkable season.

Despite the very rainy conditions, thousands of runners and fans showed up, demonstrating the strength and unity of our community. The smiles, laughter, and determination of everyone involved truly captured the spirit of Girls on the Run. NBC 15 even caught some of my heartfelt thoughts about the special nature of the 5K experience in this television news broadcast about the event (1 minute video).

It wouldn’t have been another record-breaking season without remarkable support from our donors, sponsors, board, staff, volunteers and families. It’s hard to believe that 19 years ago we served 13 kids on one team… fast forward to this season when 1,250 kids on 92 different teams crossed the finish line. While it’s hard to see a great season come to an end, there’s another one to get excited about around the corner. Registration for Fall 2024 programming will open on August 1st. We’ll be back in Waunakee on Saturday, November 9th for our celebratory Fall 5K - Presented by SSM Health.

For those who don't know, Girls on the Run is an afterschool program that teaches 3rd-8th grade youth joy, health, and confidence through a curriculum that creatively integrates running. So now it’s time to officially kick off summer and celebrate these remarkable kids as they unleash their limitless potential and boldly pursue their dreams.

Keep Shining,

Christine
